Frequently Asked Questions About Custom Homes

How much does a new home cost?

  • Our prices start at $289,500 and are approximately $100 per square foot.  We may charge less than other homebuilders, but we still use higher quality materials and products. Also, by selecting one of our plans you avoid paying for the cost of designing a new plan.

What is included in the price?

  • Our prices include the entire home including all of our Distinctive Details standard features.  The price does not include the cost of the options, upgrades, or custom features that you choose to add to your home.  The price also does not include the cost of the lot, the site work costs, and any financing costs.

How long does it take?

  • It takes about six months to build the homes in our portfolio.  Before we start, we will obtain the necessary permits, and will be ready to start construction once you pick out your plan and customized options, obtain your financing, and any demolition is complete.

What if I have a home that I would like to teardown?

  • We will guide you through and manage the entire process of building a new home to replace your old one.  The cost of renovating an old home can be expensive and time consuming.  Often, the finished product leaves much to be desired.  You still have an old home without the many benefits of new construction.  We can tear down your old home and build a new home for you while minimizing your stay in temporary accommodations – all at a cost that is surprisingly low compared to renovation.  Let us show you what it would cost to build a new home on your lot so you can stay in your own neighborhood.

Can you help me find a lot?

  • Foxhall Homes can assist you in finding the perfect lot.  Tell us what location you are interested in, as well as your preferences for schools, lifestyle, and proximity to work. Then tell us a price range that is comfortable for you.  After that, our team takes over to find you the perfect homesite.  And the best part is our consultation service is free --- the only thing you have to lose is a little time in finding your dream location.

Do I need to obtain the permits and manage the demolition myself?

  • No, unlike some other homebuilders, Foxhall Homes manages ALL the construction work for you.

Where does Foxhall Homes build new homes?

  • Whether the right location for you is a prestigious “close-in” neighborhood or a spacious lot in the countryside, Foxhall Homes can make your dreams come true.  We are licensed to build new homes throughout Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland.

Can I customize my home?

  • Our plans are new and innovative, with the modern features you desire, such as larger kitchens and bathrooms, energy efficient appliances,  upstairs laundry rooms, spacious closets, and 1st Level Owners' Suites.  You can select the plan that is right for you from our extensive portfolio.  Additional plans are available on request or by custom design.  You can customize your home in so many ways with the many optional features we offer.

What are the steps in the home buying process?

  1. Initial Consultation:  Select the plan for your new home.  We’ll tell you which plans fit on your lot, how long it will take to build it, and what it will cost.

  2. Financing:  Meet with one of our preferred lenders to begin the financing process.

  3. The Construction Agreement:  We will enter into a written agreement that covers the construction of your new home.

  4. Engineering:  The Engineer will prepare a survey of the lot and site the plan you select on the lot.

  5. Selections:  Select the optional and custom features you want to include in your home.

  6. Permits:  We will apply for all required permits.  This step can take several months.

  7. Construction:  When the permits are received we take care of everything until the home is complete and it is ready for you to move in.

What are your Guarantees?

  • The Foxhall Homes Quality Assurance program guarantees the quality of your new home and a stress-free experience.  You will meet with our construction team before construction begins and before the drywall is installed.  Before you move into your new home, your home will be thoroughly inspected and we will present it to you in our pre-settlement demonstration.  After you move in, we stand by our work with our limited warranty.  Your warranty will be insured by the 2-10 Home Buyers Warranty Corporation and includes a 10-year structural warranty.
